My Adventures in Alaska

This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to live in Alaska, working at a lodge right next to the Denali Nation Park. The job was trying, but the experience overall was unforgettable. I met and befriended so many people from all over the world, and I got to have so many adventures in the untamed wilderness. I will forever be grateful for the time I spent in that beautiful state.
Ok, enough talking. Time for pictures!
The sun didn't set until about 10:00pm when I first got there in May.
This was the hottest day that summer. We were all melting.

Why yes, that is a moose.

This picture was taken in Anchorage along a Costal Trail.

This was the lodge where I worked in Denali, Alaska.

This was the view I saw every evening outside my housing area. Not too shabby, wouldn't you agree?

I worked in Denali, but lived in Healy, which was a tiny town 11 miles away from the lodge.

Like I said, miles of untamed wilderness.

Behind me is the Nenana River, which ran near the lodge where we worked.

I love Alaska!

Flight tour around Mt. McKinley; elevation 21,000 feet.

Why yes, that is a reindeer. Ho, ho, ho.

A mushroom! Or, as they say in Bulgaria, guby.

How Can I Keep From Singing?

When I was in High School I was involved in the Advanced Vocal Ensemble and the Concert Choir. I loved being in both because I loved to sing and I loved that my voice was a part of a group that wanted nothing more than to  make beautiful music.
We sang songs like the ones posted on this page, which were all sung by various choirs and found on You Tube (I would have posted our actual performances, but the files are too big to load on this blog).  Take the time to watch these videos, because they might just change your life.

"Stars" performed by the Salt Lake Vocal Artists:

"Christ the Apple Tree" performed by the Stanford Scriven:

"Ballade to the Moon" performed by the Westminster Choir:

How to Waste Time on the Internet

Today's technology gives us so many options of what to do with our time and energy. We could cure cancer with the knowledge and technology we all have right at our fingertips. But what do we do instead? Look at entertaining videos, of course. So here's a few links to videos that I've wasted many hours watching. Enjoy!
PS. Make sure you have your sound turned up!

For A Reason

I am feeling very nostalgic for all the friends I've met and lost, so I wrote this poem. Enjoy!

God brings different souls to our lives
In a time, a place, a season.
Some come to help, others to hurt,
But all are sent for a reason.

Some carry hope and light to your life
You’ll share times that lift you up
God sends them to help you through your storms,
And fill your empty cup.

Sometimes souls come to learn from you:
There is something you need to give.
Their spirits are low and their trials are high,
But you help them continue to live.

Unfortunately there will be times
When souls are sent to hurt you.
They’ll bring you down and give you scars;
They’ll make you believe what’s not true.

But you must remember to smile when times
Look bad and it all seems too dark.
Just remember God does what he does purposefully,
Then the world won’t leave such a mark.

God brings different souls to our lives
In a time, a place, a season.
Some come to help, others to hurt,
But all are sent for a reason.
